For the past 36 years Michelle and Richard Humphries have been involved in the Silk business on the Essex- Suffolk borders of East Anglia. The use of Silk to begin with in weaving and then embroidery,  has led to the supply of not only silk, but also cotton wool linen, and other fibres. The business started in Sudbury in Suffolk before expanding to Castle Hedingham and Braintree in Essex. Today we are at Weavers House Near Halstead in Essex in the Colne Valley.

Although we hold hundreds of silk shades we have created a stock range of 96 silk shades in 6 qualities for embroidery which fit most needs.  There are additional silk colours as specials, although not in all qualities. The worsted wool for fine crewel work and a stranded mercerised cotton range are available in limited ranges in hanks or on cops of 25 metres.

The weaving yarns are in Silk ,Worsted, Cotton ,Linen ,Viscose ,and other fibres, and are on hank, cop or cone. Although we have a silk shade card for our standard embroidery range, there are just too many colours to sample for the other yarns we hold. However we can send wraps of colours in the post if shades shown on line are not sufficient.
